Tabletop Hi-Fi Soundsystem
Sound is not something that should just be heard and not seen. The connection between listener and music matters to Blake Towin and Matt Richmond, the guys behind Symbol Audio, who have parlayed a background in fine furniture design into a collection of handcrafted hi-fi consoles which merge time-honored analog electronics with digital technology.
Blake founded Symbol Audio as the alternative to what he believes is impersonal mass-produced consumer electronics. Each cabinet is individually crafted in the U.S. from solid American walnut, oak or a range of lacquer finishes. The company then partnered with a renowned sound engineer to combine their product design experience with expert sound engineering into one beautiful sound system.
Symbol's Tabletop Hi-Fi Soundsystem is an amplified speaker cabinet that delivers an extremely rich high-fidelity sound. For some audiophiles, sound quality is not about software tricks, as those found in contemporary consumer electronics, but getting down to brass tacks in the speaker design. This hi-fi boasts a couple of 4-inch full-range drivers with titanium cones, paired with 5.25-inch subwoofer. Bump up that bass! It’s powered by a 2.1 channel class D amp, capable of pushing 8 watts to the stereo drivers and 15.5 to the sub. And all of it set in a dampened cabinet, ported for optimum sound.
For streaming audio, simply switch the selector from turntable to Wi-Fi. Connect a wireless router such as Sonos or Apple Airport using provided 1/8-inch audio cable and stream wirelessly.
Prefer analog? Connect a turntable with an RCA to mini-plug cable and a phono preamp. Drop a platter and turn it up!
