Design is craft. Oscar Diaz believes "self-initiated projects serve to experiment with materials and challenge processes that will find later on applications." That can start with something as plainly simple as stencils. Start with the body. Add a head, horn or crests. The prehistoric possibilities are endless! For Oscar, the proof is in products, given the London-based designer's better known range of esoteric results; his clients include Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), Terra Plana, the Gandy Gallery and (one of A+R's favorite design collectives) Domestic. After studying fine art in his native Spain, Oscar focused on industrial design at l’École des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux, and earned his MA in product design from the Royal College of Art in London.
