Hulger & Sam Wilkinson's
Plumen 001 Light Bulb
“It’s strange that the bulb, an object so synonymous with ideas, is almost entirely absent of imagination," observes Nicolas Roope, co-founder and creative director of the London-based Hulger. We couldn't agree more. So we brightened at the sight of these bulbs, designed in collaboration with Sam Wilkinson. Not only are they low-energy bulbs, but the sculptural, organic form of the tubes is too good looking to cover up with a lamp shade. The name Plumen derives from "plume," a bird’s feather, specifically those worn by fowl or human friend with a dose of savoir faire. Hulger holds that its design does the same for the neglected bulb. As an eco-friendly bulb, it saves 80% on energy bills and lasts 8 times longer than a standard incandescent bulb.
