Chop Chopping Board

This is no ordinary chopping board. The routed sides of this high-grade bamboo plank enable user to push a plate or bowl up against the board so food can swiftly be moved. French designer Patrick Jouin took the DesignPlus Award for 2011 with this second piece for Alessi. Patrick attended ENSCI-les Ateliers in Paris in the early 1990s, then spent the next years working with Philippe Starck. He has since established his own eponymous studio in Paris, working with clients such as Busnelli, Ligne Roset, Puiforcat and others in both exhibition and product design, as well as sumptuous spaces including a restaurant in the Eiffel Tower and a Van Cleef & Arpels boutique in Hong Kong.
