Børge Mogensen’s 6284 Table from 1958 embodies his desire for longevity in a restrained aesthetic, made from the finest selection of solid oak available in a variety of finishes. Inspired by the functional, utilitarian approach of the Shaker movement, his aim was to create beautiful, distinctive furniture by emphasizing simple horizontal and vertical lines and surfaces. That restrained manner imbues the structural beauty of the versatile table’s angled leg support and joinery with a modest appearance intended to create a sense of tranquillity.
