Tavla is a modern take on marquetry or creating a pattern of inlaid wood pieces. Pool co-designer Léa Padovani, inspired by the traditional technique oft-seen on backgammon tables, named this adaptation with the Iranian word for the game in honor of her Iranian-Italian heritage. Along with studio partner Sébastien Kieffer, they have created a marvelous enlargeable dining table with 2 additional extensions and clean-line steel legs with a black powder-coat finish. In dual shades of walnut, the bold contrasting pattern on the tabletop raises dining to a fine art.
