Description

Danish design duo HolmbäckNordentoft worked a visual pun into their sleek table lamp. "A cord is a necessary evil," they say. "How could we make it into a virtue?" The answer was to emphasize it with a curved opening at the bottom, punctuated with a brass detail. Otherwise, Shelter is winningly functional, emitting evenly reflected illumination from under its wide curved shade with an inner white finish. The lamp creates a cozy atmosphere in the corner of a living room or serves as a reading light next to an armchair, on a desk or bedside table.

“When Jan and I look at new designs for Normann Copenhagen, we take a very intuitive approach to the products,” according to cofounder Poul Madsen. “A picture can say much more than words and if we are both struck by what we see, we are interested.” Jan Andersen and Poul Madsen teamed up to create the Normann Copenhagen with a vision to shake up the contemporary design field.
