Renowned for his award-winning Plumen 001 low-energy lightbulb, design ace Samuel Wilkinson follows up with Beem, a family of remarkably unique LED bulbs. Smile is a striking glass bar that comes in 3 different models: a U-shape, a grin-like upward curve and a straight line. Counterpart Curli takes form as a coil of light wrapping around its holder, inspired by calligraphy.
With specialists Chris Stimson and Bujar Shkodra, Samuel employs the latest soft-filament LED technology which emits bright, warm light for up to 25,000 hours while using minimal energy. Each fully dimmable bulb can be hung on its own or set in a group and an innovative rotating mechanism allows the lights be easily adjusted to line up with surrounding bulbs. "We consciously set out to make contemporary forms," says the designer. "The bulb market is saturated with retro styling — it's good to create something different."
