Karimoku Furniture began in 1940 in Aichi Prefecture, making wooden components for sewing machines and musical instruments before pivoting to Western-style furniture in the early 1960s. That decade's modest, practical designs became the foundation for Karimoku 60 — a line kept in continuous production ever since, organized around a "long-life design" philosophy that prizes decades of use over seasonal relevance. The Dining Table T Base belongs to that lineage: a rubber-tree frame with a sliced-veneer top, straightforward proportions, and three wood colors — Pure Beech, Mocha Brown, or Walnut — chosen to live with, not to impress.
