A timeless Ercol Original, Utility by founder Lucian Ercolani was inspired by the local craft tradition in the Chiltern Hills where he built his first factory. Complementing both traditional and contemporary decor with its spindle back and comfortable oval seat, the chair bow is steam-bent from a single straight ash rail and then sanded and shaped to give its elegant profile. Traditional wedge joints with the inset legs hand-sanded flush with the surface provide a characteristic design detail as well as a very strong joint, backed up by the H-underframe.
