Named for the Little Dipper — the constellation that served as a navigational guide for enslaved people escaping the American South — Michael Bennett's debut lighting design carries its symbolism directly into form. The Louisiana-raised former NFL player founded Studio Kër in 2020 to ask design questions rooted in Black history and African heritage: what does love look like as a shape; what does Sunday dinner feel like. The Ursa Minor is his answer rendered in Gantri's plant-based polymer — an asymmetrical shade drawing from African architecture, an earthen base, a warm diffused glow.
