Description
It's a Lock. Innovation-minded Housefish merges technology and craft in the Lock Chair. To produce clean-lined and comfortable seating in eco-minded fashion, the Denver-based studio combined quotidian plywood with powder-coated steel. The computer-driven design reflects company founder Scott Bennett's previous turn as a race-car engineer. Assembly is a snap: slide the seat into the locking notch in the back and insert just 4 screws. In maple or walnut veneer over multi-core plywood that's locally sourced and sustainably harvested, with eco-friendly paint finishes and paper-based flat packaging.

“People I would hang out with.” That’s who Housefish founder Scott Bennett says most of his customers most likely are. People in tech or other forward-thinking industries, with an appreciation for pared-down furniture without any fuss, created with both digital techniques and hand-crafting. And ecologically minded, cognizant of local sourcing, sustainable materials and non-toxic finishes.
Scott launched his Denver furniture company after an unlikely left turn from his previous career as part of the design team for racecars. Driven by a childhood love of F1 racing, he earned an automotive engineering degree from Loughborough University in England. Having had a hand previously in engineering cars that have won the Indy 500, Indycar championship, and Baja off-road races, now Scott applies his fascination with sleek lines and functional technology to the ever-present demands of everyday living.
