Recently brought back for reissue, only a small number of Gull book stands were originally manufactured before the Second World War halted production in 1939. Designed by Egon Riss as the smaller sibling to his Penguin Donkey, the sculptural contours have a profile reminiscent of a bird, crafted in solid birch and made in London by Isokon.
