Theme and variations. For the Kabino Sideboard, designer Simon Legald jazzily improvised on the classic low rectangular cabinet by bopping around with unexpected details. One of the steel sliding front-door panels is perforated; the other is not. Slotted handles, smoothly integrated into the doors, are staggered in their placement. And warm ash trim adds a counterpoint to the sleek metal. As Simon says, "I like to work in the cross field between craftsmanship and industry." Kabino is available with white or grey doors and is at home all over the office or house in a living room, dining room, hallway or bedroom. The cabinet also accommodates electronics and the perforated door allows use of a remote control even when closed. From Normann Copenhagen, which equally believes in upending traditional expectations to pleasing effect.
