This compact Onkel (named for the Danish word for “uncle”) brings a smaller footprint to designer Simon Legald’s appealing mashup of furniture styles. Combining pre-midcentury plump cushioning with a more streamlined frame results in seating that is contemporary but also marvelously comfortable. As the designer explains, “I have revived old craftsmanship techniques and used them in a new context.”
