Here's something truly Original. Ercol's Plank Table was first designed in 1956 by the company's founder, Lucien Ercolani, Seeking to produce contemporary furnishings with traditional British hand-craftsmaship, he began with a mid-century version of the classic Windsor chair. In turn, the rounded edges of the table were inspired by the curve of that classic chair. Now re-issued as part of Ercol's Originals collection, this stylish dining table boasts outward facing tapered beech legs and a solid-elm tabletop and seats 4 to 6 guests. Still made by hand in England, with matte lacquer finish to emphasize the warm wood grain or one of the painted selections for a pop of color.

Marking the 100-year anniversary of Ercol in 2020, the company reorganized under the moniker of its founder Lucian Ercolani as a premium brand that embodies the classic collection he pioneered as well as new works from an international slate of designers like Norm Architects, Jonas Wagell, and Lars Beller Fjetland. Under Edward Tadros, current chairman and grandson of “the old man” as Lucien is fondly remembered, the legacy of well-built furniture continues at its headquarters in the English countryside village of Princes Risborough
Best known for the iconic midcentury Originals that are still produced today, Ercolani developed a contemporary version of handmade British furniture initially inspired by classic Windsor styles. After surviving the Great Depression, two world wars, several recessions, and global competition, the company moves robustly into a new century buttressed by its uncompromising values and unstinting craftsmanship.
