Description
Cees Braakman designed the Wire chair in 1958 — one of the first chairs built entirely from steel wire — at a moment when Dutch interiors were small and materials were scarce. Pastoe has brought it back into production. The seat pad is the one addition the reissue invites: a custom-made cushion in Pastoe's Popolare or Technicolour fabric families, sized to the SM chair's seat, that honors the frame's spare geometry while conceding, quietly, that steel wire rewards a little softness.
