Gweilo means ghost in Chinese and there is definitely a spectral aspect to its table model Song, with its curves and dips fixed in midair. Made from hand-molded acrylic, the lighting concept was conjured by Toronto design studio Partisans and is produced by the lighting wizards at Barcelona's Parachilna. Its thermoforming process takes an etched optical-grade acrylic sheet and induces the characteristic folds while the transparent plastic is molten and still pliable. A metal strip containing an embedded LED is then attached to the edge when it cools to allow the signature effect of light catching the etchings —and producing the magical illumination.
